On Board Communication Unit
|
The RAMM On Board Communication Unit lies at the heart of the modular vehicle system architecture and has been designed by a development team with extensive knowledge of the transport industry. Locally developed, the unit has been thoroughly tested in South African conditions and is appropriately splash and dust-proof in an alluminium case. Intergration of the unit with the vehicles electrics, cellular phone and peripheral devices, is uncomplicated, using a single 25 pin D-Type color coded harness. The unit comes standard with GPS and GSM antennas. Positional data recorded by the GPS and status information captured via sensors, is transferred through a GSM cell phone to the control room software in real time. On leaving coverage the unit records and transmits automatically on re-entry into GSM coverage. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Extended Functionality A peripheral device that has TCP/IP capability can be attached to the OBCU. The device can be used for in-cab communication with the control center. |
Status Contacts These can be coupled to switches and circuit breakers.Four are implemented as standard:
The frequency at which the unit reports is determined by three criteria
Exception Management Vehicles can be managed by monitoring their movements within defined areas classified as - - No entry - Confined - Reporting Entering and exiting defined areas will generate alarms which can be forwarded via SMS messages. Continual Recording In the event of a communication breakdown no data will be lost as all monitored data is stored in on-board memory. User defined intervals of historical data, recorded up to two and a half months previously, may be recalled at any time the unit is within the GSM coverage area. FleetNet The unit is designed to work with the Ramm FleetNet service, to give you realtime fleet management information via the internet. PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
